Questions about Find My Person
The ones we get asked most. Answered honestly.
What is this?
What is Find My Person?
Find My Person is an AI-powered matchmaking service. You have a real conversation with Maya — our AI matchmaker — who gets to know you, learns what you're looking for, and introduces you to people she genuinely thinks you'd work with. There are no profiles to swipe through. There's no inbox to manage. When Maya has a match for you, she introduces you both — with a personal note explaining why she thinks you're a good fit.
Is this a dating app?
Sort of — but it works differently from the ones you're probably thinking of. Most dating apps are search engines: they show you a database of people and let you filter it. Find My Person is more like having a matchmaker: someone who knows you and actively looks for your person on your behalf. There's no swiping. You don't browse profiles. You talk to Maya, she works on finding you someone, and she introduces you when she thinks she's found the right person.
Who is Maya?
Maya is our AI matchmaker. She's powered by advanced AI (Claude, by Anthropic) and designed to have genuine, thoughtful conversations — not to feel like a chatbot. She asks questions that matter, listens carefully, and uses what she learns to find compatible people. She doesn't make small talk for the sake of it. She's genuinely trying to understand you well enough to find someone who fits.
How is this different from Hinge, Bumble, or Tinder?
The key difference is who's doing the searching. On swiping apps, you sort through people yourself — judging by photos and brief bios, with imperfect filters. The app's job is to show you options. Your job is to evaluate them. With Find My Person, Maya does that work. You tell her who you are and what you're looking for. She evaluates potential matches against everything she knows about you. When she's confident she's found someone good, she introduces you directly. You're not competing in a pool. You're not managing an inbox. You're just waiting to meet someone Maya actually believes in.
How does it work?
What happens when I sign up?
You start a conversation with Maya. She gets to know you — your personality, values, what you're looking for, what you've learned from past relationships, and what matters in a partner. It's not a questionnaire; it's a real conversation that evolves over time. As more people join and Maya builds her understanding of you, she works on finding your match. When she's confident, she introduces you both — by message, with a personal explanation of why she thinks you'd be good together.
How long does it take to get matched?
It depends on how many people are on the platform and how specific your compatibility requirements are. We don't promise timelines, because a rushed bad match is worse than a careful right one. What we can say: Maya isn't waiting passively. She's actively evaluating potential fits as new people join, and she'll reach out when she's found someone she's genuinely excited about.
What does Maya's introduction look like?
When Maya introduces two people, she sends both of them a message explaining who they're meeting and why she thinks they'd connect. It's not "here's someone who matches your filters" — it's a personal note about the specific reasons she thinks you'd work together. You then decide whether you want to connect. If both of you say yes, you can start messaging.
Can I tell Maya what I'm looking for?
Yes — and she'll ask. Maya is designed to understand both what you explicitly want (the things you can articulate) and what might actually make you happy (which sometimes takes more conversation to get at). She'll ask about values, lifestyle, past relationships, what's worked and what hasn't, and what you're hoping for. The more honest you are with her, the better she can find the right person.
What if I don't like who Maya introduces?
You can tell her. She wants to know — it helps her understand you better and find someone more right. She won't take it personally, and she won't stop looking.
Privacy and trust
Is my conversation with Maya private?
Yes. Your conversations with Maya and your profile information are not shared with other users. The only information shared is what both people agree to when a match introduction is made. We don't sell your data. We don't use your conversations for advertising. We take the trust people place in us seriously — it's foundational to what we're building.
Will my matches see what I told Maya?
No. Maya uses what you share to find your match — but she doesn't pass along your private conversations. When she introduces two people, she shares what she thinks is relevant about why you'd work together, not a transcript of your chat.
Do you use my data to train AI?
We do not use customer conversation data to train AI models. Your conversations with Maya are used to match you — that's it.
Who built this?
Find My Person was built by Sean Doherty, a software engineer who got frustrated with dating apps and decided to build something different. It's an independent company, not a venture-backed growth machine optimizing for engagement metrics.
Cost and access
How much does it cost?
Find My Person is currently free. We're in early access and focused on making matches that actually work before adding pricing.
Is there a waitlist?
Yes — we're currently in early access. You can join the waitlist and we'll let you know when you're in. We're prioritizing quality over scale: we'd rather have fewer users and better matches than grow too fast and make worse introductions.
Can I use this if I'm LGBTQ+?
Yes, absolutely. Maya works with all orientations and relationship structures. When you talk to her, you can tell her about who you're attracted to and what you're looking for — she'll match accordingly.
AI and matchmaking
Can AI actually know if two people are compatible?
Honestly — it's still being proven. We believe the answer is yes, but we're not going to oversell it. What we can say: Maya is significantly better at understanding compatibility than a photo and a bio. She has actual conversations. She knows your values, your past, your non-negotiables, and what lights you up. She uses all of that to evaluate potential matches against each other, looking for genuine alignment — not just shared interests or demographic similarity. Is it perfect? No. Neither is any matchmaker, human or AI. But we think it's meaningfully better than swiping — and we're building toward proving that with data.
Why AI instead of a human matchmaker?
A few reasons. Scale: a human matchmaker can work with 30–50 clients. Maya can work with thousands, without losing quality. Cost: human matchmakers charge thousands of dollars. We want this to be accessible. Consistency: Maya doesn't have bad days or biases that drift. She applies the same careful analysis to every potential match. That said, AI isn't human. Maya won't have lived experience of heartbreak. She won't have intuition built from decades of watching relationships. We think the combination of AI capability and human-centered design gets you most of what matters — but we're honest that we're building something new here, not replicating something proven.
Is this replacing human connection with AI?
No. Maya is how you find the person — not who you connect with. The relationship is entirely human. Maya's job ends when she introduces you. Everything that happens after is yours.
For skeptics
I've tried everything. Why would this be different?
We can't promise it will be. What we can say is that it's structurally different from what you've tried: you're not competing in a pool where looks determine first impressions, you're not managing a high-volume inbox that produces mostly nothing, someone (Maya) is actively working on finding your person — you're not doing the searching yourself, and when you meet someone, there's a reason behind the introduction. Whether that structure works better for you is something you'll have to try to find out.
What if I'm not ready to date?
That's worth listening to. Find My Person works best when you're genuinely ready for a relationship — when you know who you are and what you want, even if you don't know exactly who that person is. If you're not sure, talking to Maya is low-stakes. You don't have to commit to anything. You might learn something about what you actually want. And when you're ready, she'll be working on it.
What's the catch?
There isn't one. We're in early access, we don't charge money yet, and we're genuinely trying to build something that works. The "catch" is that we're early — the platform is growing, which means your match might take longer than it would with a larger pool. We think that's worth it. We'd rather you wait for someone genuinely right than match immediately with someone who isn't.
Still have questions?
Talk to Maya. She's pretty good at answering them — and she'll learn enough about you to start looking for your person at the same time.
